The opening ceremony of SITAS Chess Academy courses was held on Monday, October 8 ,2007, at 7 p.m., in the ceremony room at "N.Balcescu" High School in Cluj-Napoca. Students, parents and teachers attended. There were also a lot of guests: Mr. Petre Nad, international master, Mr. Eugen Hang-president of CSM Cluj-Napoca chess club, Mr.Sebastian Rasinar- principal of "D.Prodan" middle school Cluj-Napoca (having chess classes), Mr. Daniel Mihut, a very active teacher promoting chess to students, Mr.Radu Cojocneanu, master candidate, former junior Romanian vicechampion, Ms. Laura Rasinar, former junior Romanian vicechampion.
The training cycle in 2007-2008 will take place on two levels; I0-beginners and I1-advanced. There will be 3 modules of 10 sessions each, at both levels:
On Dec. 21 a contest took place, offering diplomas and participation prizes for all the players. For the 4 age level categories we awarded prizes, medals and diplomas for the first 3 top players. The final standings represented the selection criteria for the national semifinal contest (8 and 10 years old age levels) which will be held in Tg.-Mures, on February 1-4.
The registration for the 3rd module will take place on MONDAY and TUESDAY , February 11 and 12 2008, from 4 to 6 p.m., at "N.Balcescu" High School, room 58, first floor.
On March 22nd the academy organized a chess competition for its members.All of them received a participation prize and the first year graduation certificate. The 3 top players in each of the 4 age categories also received medals, diplomas and prizes.During the ceremony, the academy also awarded several personalities who promoted the scholastic chess and were involved in its activity.
